  1. Can I register now for summer and fall classes?

Yes.  UNT Dallas is offering online classes for the summer 2020 term.  Fall 2020 registration is also open.  Registration is open for all students.  Most current students do not need an advising appointment, and can enroll by utilizing their Student Progress Report and the Enrollment tabs.  For Advising assistance in selecting courses, email advising@untdallas.edu to schedule an appointment or "chat with us" online at advising.untdallas.edu.

  1. I need to take the TSI assessment.  How can I do that?

Students who need to complete their TSI exams are already able to utilize remote testing through the testing center to prepare for the fall semester.  To schedule a time, visit https://advising.untdallas.edu/testing-services-unt-dallas to get started.

  1. When will the Testing Center re-open?

The testing center is already open for the remote TSI assessment and remote TExES Representative Form test.  Additional testing will resume once the campus re-opens, or as additional remote testing options become available.

  1. I am a newly admitted student and want to know about my next steps for starting at UNT Dallas.

New students should receive a detailed email to their student email account outlining next steps for scheduling orientation, TSI, advising, and checking on the status of their financial aid.  In addition new students receive regular text and phone messages from UNT Dallas staff.  We encourage you to respond to these messages and work with us to help you get started.  If you haven't heard from us, but you are admitted to UNT Dallas, email us at SuccessCoaching@untdallas.edu.

  1. How do I register for classes as a new freshman or transfer student?

All new students must meet with an academic advisor in order to register for classes.  Your student success coach can help determine if you are ready to schedule advising, or if we still need to obtain TSI related information first.  They are here to help you with your course selections. Email us at SuccessCoaching@untdallas.edu to get started.

  1. Will my financial aid, federal or state grants, and scholarships change with only online instruction?

No, your financial aid will not change due to courses being taught online.  If you maintain your enrollment status, your aid will not be affected.

  1. Will this have an effect on financial aid for the fall semester?

If our campus is closed and we are only offering online classes, this will not affect your tuition or financial aid in any way.  We are waiving the distance learning fee that is usually assessed for online classes and financial aid is the same no matter how you take your classes.

  1. When will I receive my financial aid package?

  • Summer Disbursements
    • Financial Aid disburses only when you are enrolled at least ½ time.  If you have accepted your aid, generally summer disbursements occur once you establish half-time attendance (6 undergraduate hours, 5 graduate hours, or 4 Law hours).
    • So, if you are taking one class in 8 week 1 and one class in 8 week 2, your aid will not disburse until you start your second class in 8 week 2.
    • If you start at least 2 classes in the same term (as an example, when both of your classes start together in 8 week 1), your aid will generally disburse on the first class day.
  • Fall and Spring Disbursements
    • If your aid is accepted, disbursements begin 10 days prior to the start of each term.

  1. Is there any way possible to have a better understanding of the “refund” policy for leftover money. When the university switched to that account last fall it was very confusing and unintuitive.

  • What is the difference between a disbursement and a refund?
  • A disbursement is the process in which financial aid and/or scholarships are released to the school to pay towards eligible charges on a student’s account.
  • A refund is the process in which any remaining funds not used for applied to your tuition, fee and other eligible expenses you owe are paid to you.
